Training workshops

There were 17 training workshops in 2010 for teachers holding a Green Day event, which have all now taken place. We also have an online information resource for teachers who did not attend a training workshop.

Green Day engages pupils in issues surrounding climate change and supports teachers to make changes in the way that their schools are run, helping schools to decrease their carbon emissions.

Green Day training workshops

We ran 17 free half-day workshops across England between March and May 2010 to help teachers prepare to run a Green Day.

Please note that all of the training workshops have now taken place, but you can use our online information resource to plan your Green Day.

The training workshops supported any teacher interested in improving the sustainability of their school and included:

    • examining how the sustainability agenda complements current education and government policy
    • considering the journey towards becoming a ‘greener’ school
    • budgeting and how to achieve the greatest energy savings
    • engaging pupils through a Green Day curriculum
    • planning a successful Green Day event
    • obtaining further support and advice.

    Online information resource

We understand that it can be difficult for every teacher to get out of school and attend a workshop, so we have published an online information resource to help you train in your own time.
