The scholarships provide design training for people whose work has an impact on the quality of our public space, from planning officers to park workers.
Good design should be at the heart of our public realm - our streets and highways, parks and green spaces and public squares and neighbourhoods.
But many people working to shape these public spaces don't get any formal design training.
The CABE Space design skills scholarships have been launched to address this. Targeting people whose work has an impact on the quality of our public space but who have no formal design training, the scheme offers professionals working in these roles the chance to travel in order to gain greater understanding of design in the public realm.
From highways engineers and planning officers to park workers, access officers, leisure and amenity officers and regeneration professionals, the scholarships are open to anyone who could use the experience to help bring knowledge of good design in the public realm to their own work and to inspire others in their field.
You can apply for a scholarship by visiting www.cabe.org.uk/scholarships. Applications open on October 1st 2007 and close on November 30th 2007 at 5pm.
Selected candidates will be called for interview in January and successful applicants will be notified at the end of January 2008.
