GROW careers

Skills to grow: seven priorities to improve urban green space skills highlights the severe shortage of horticultural skills facing the green space sector.

CABE Space is supporting the GROW initiative, championed by BBC presenter and landscape architect Chris Beardshaw, which aims to enthuse people about horticulture in its widest sense.

The GROW initiative is a website with information about how to get into horticulture including careers in:

• landscape architecture
• park and green space management
• arboriculture.

It includes a careers helpline linked to Lantra, the sector skills council for land-based industries.

A GROW careers pack will be sent to every secondary school in the country as young people are often very interested in the environment and green issues but aren't always aware of the career opportunities.

Who is behind GROW?

GROW is developed by horticultural organisations including the RHS, English Heritage, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinbugh, the National Trust and Horticulture Week.
