Spaceshaper in action

Since the tool was launched in February 2007, over 200 facilitators have been trained and 75 Spaceshaper workshops have taken place around the country. Read the examples below to see what difference Spaceshaper has made to six projects.

Hunstanton Promenade, West Norfolk

A one and a half mile seafront promenade with mixed-use land to the east a beach and the Wash estuary to the west.

Moston Brook, Manchester/Oldham

A patchwork of green spaces between Oldham and Manchester created over a former landfill site with a wild, unkempt feel.

St James’ Park, Southampton

A small neighbourhood park of 2.3 hectares, managed and maintained by Southampton City Council and the Friends of St James’ Park community group.

Swalwell Park, Gateshead

The main public green space in the Swalwell area of Gateshead was neglected and mainly used as a pedestrian route rather than as a place for local people to spend time.
