CABE's education magazine: reporting on the government's 'learning outside the classroom' manifesto.

360° issue 12
In this issue we report on the government's 'learning outside the classroom' manifesto. CABE sees out-of-school-hours learning as way in which young people can learn about their built environment. We report on a CABE-funded project in which young people worked with an architect to interpret the 'New Hearts for Bow' building in east London. We also explore built environment education in the USA. Much of the work taking place at centres such as the Chicago Architecture Foundation and the National Building Museum is seen to lead the way in both pedagogy and practice. We take a look at built environment learning in the fields of science and maths and announce the launch of a new international educator's network that CABE is pleased to be a part of.
