West Midlands

The West Midlands has excellent transport infrastructure and a wide range of multi-cultural communities.

Three-quarters of the region is rural so the built environment challenge is the great contrast of growth and regeneration almost side by side. 

Regional representatives

• Meredith Evans is corporate director of environment and regeneration at Telford and Wrekin Council, and chair of the RTPI Urban Design Network.
• Geoff Wright is head of planning at Asset and Infrastructure Management Solutions Ltd (Nuneaton), advising universities and regeneration developers.
• Joe Holyoak is an architect and urban designer, and lectures at Birmingham School of Architecture, Birmingham City University.

Architecture centres

We fund the following architecture centres:

• MADE (Midlands Architecture + the Designed Environment)
  Supports and promotes excellence in the designed environment, including buildings, places and public spaces, parks and green spaces.
• Urban Vision North Staffordshire
  Promotes high quality urban and architectural design within and around the North Staffordshire conurbation in the West Midlands.

We also fund the Architecture Centre Network, a development and advocacy organisation for the architecture centres.
