The i-VALUL project shows how the quality of an individual street is directly related to its place in the network of streets that make up a place.

CABE has partnered Space Syntax on a pioneering project to understand how the physical design of a place affects its value, looking at both economic values and social values.
The i-VALUL project builds on the findings of CABE’s Paved with Gold research which found that improving street quality could add at least 5% to property values and retail rents. i-VALUL extends the concept to show how the quality of an individual street is directly related to its place in the network of streets that make up a place.
i-VALUL has produced a new set of tools for professionals and the community to help them understand layout and think about it in relation to their place.
i-VALUL was led by Space Syntax and funded by the Urban Buzz programme, and brings together more than 20 public, private, higher education and voluntary sector organisations including The Home Office, SEEDA, EEDA, UEL, UCL, GLA Economics, Savills Research, Colin Buchanan and JMP.
